The Artist

A Life Changing Moment

The artist Nazlı Soylu, after studying BFA Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design in New York City, experienced the most pivotal moment of her life when she encountered Diane von Furstenberg’s postcards at the brand’s Meatpacking District store. In that quiet, unexpected moment, she wrote her New Year’s wish—an act that would come to symbolize the beginning of her own creative journey.

“I wrote, ‘My only wish is to intern at DVF,’ and handed the postcard directly to Diane herself in 2008. That moment marked aturning point in my life.”

Soylu spent four years as the Head Print Designer for Ready-to-Wear at DVF’s New York headquarters studio, eventually becoming the lead designer for the in-house scarf collection.
